Wake the Neighbors!
High-octane music for the new millennium

A tight quintet forms the Wake the Neighbors! sound. Jessie Gagne-Hall's pulsing fiddle shares sonic space with the airy, trickling voice of Jim DiCarlo's Irish flute and whistles. John Côté's jazzy, versatile guitarwork, Anthony Shostak's clawed banjo, barking, grunting didgeridoo, uilleann pipes and Alfred Lund's driving percussion push the band's sound beyond the politely traditional. The result is a unique music full of fire and passion that recognizes no cultural or stylistic boundaries, best described as "high-octane music for the new millennium."Wake the Neighbors! hit the traditional music scene in 1996, playing music for contradances at Bates College. Since then they have opened for the Celtic supergroup Alasdair Fraser & Skyedance, headlined the Downeast Country Dance Festival, appeared on Maine Public Radio's Music du Jour, at the Maine Festival, NewYear's Portland, New Year's Bethel, The Festival de Joie, the dedication of Portland's Merrill Auditorium, and at numerous private receptions throughout NewEngland.
